850°C vs 1,050°C Incineration: When Is Higher Temperature Required?

850°C: The Standard Threshold Most general municipal and non-hazardous medical waste is processed at 850°C in the secondary chamber. This is sufficient to neutralize common bacteria and prevent smoke and odor.

1,050°C - 1,100°C+: The Hazardous Threshold Waste containing halogenated organic substances (like certain pharmaceutical residues or chemical solvents) requires higher temperatures. These resilient molecular bonds only break down when subjected to 1,050°C+ for 2 seconds.

Why 1100°C is the FSM Default At Incinerator Company, our medical units (FSM Series) are factory-set for 1100°C. Why? Because clinical waste streams are unpredictable. By setting the higher threshold, we ensure our clients are *always* compliant, even if hazardous chemicals are accidentally introduced into the batch.

The Role of Refractories Operating at 1100°C+ requires advanced UK-engineered refractories. We use high-alumina castables and specialized firebricks that can withstand 1600°C+, providing a significant safety margin and preventing structural degradation of the plant.

Fuel Implications Running at 1100°C consumes more fuel than 850°C. Our PLC logic uses "Modulating Burners" to maintain this temperature with minimal fuel, utilizing the calorific value of the waste itself to support the thermal threshold.
